ABOUT THE "FLINKVILD" KENNEL -
HISTORY, ACHIEVEMENTS, PLANS...
Ever since I can remember, I’ve always wanted to devote
myself to dogs, own a kennel, attend dog shows, train dogs, breed puppies etc.
When I was 14 I got my first dog and even then I thoroughly prepared myself for
the purchase and read all available books about dogs at that time. I was
convinced that the dog should be only from a Club. Although, I never imagined
then that puppies from Clubs differ from one another so significantly. But I was
lucky, my first dog – it was a Collie – turned out to be of very high standard.
This applied not only to the exterior but also to character, temperament and
health. We successfully completed our training and passed exams. I attended
competitions, shows, took specific courses for dog training instructors. From
1990 I worked as an instructor on the training area of the Club “Edelblut” in my
hometown Dedovsk.
We got our first Dalmatian in 1993. This happened after I’d
met my future husband Aleksei Mamaev. Together we chose a breed, went to shows,
looked at dogs and sought where to buy a first class puppy. From this point on I
will write as “we” and “us” because from then on everything we did, we did
together.
There was little information and no kennels whatsoever. The
breeding was done on a non-professional level. (This significantly differed from
what was going on with collie breeding – it was going uphill). We didn’t even
think about starting a kennel. All managers of the club were huge fans of the
breed but all of them owned not more than one dog, which was usually their first
and bought at random.
We familiarized with the breed for approximately a year
before getting our first puppy. It was a white and black bitch Antalia Olsi.
Breeder – Anna Nekrusheva was President of the Dalmatian Club “A-Dalmatin” at
the time. The litter was attention-grabbing. The father of the puppies was from
the Czech Republic and that alone was uncommon. Furthermore, the puppies were of
excellent. Even though we had the opportunity to pick a puppy first as it was
done on a “first come, first served” basis, this turned out to be one tricky
job. We’d like to thank Anna Nekrusheva, who had suggested to us, which puppy
from her point of view looked more promising, as she realised that we were
really serious about getting a puppy and taking real good care of it.
We made a very fortunate choice. Antalia won several major
dog shows. Unfortunately she never became Champion because of her sudden and
tragic death. However, she left behind her offsprings. Now we have five
generations of her children-champions.
Thus our first Dalmatian litter was born in 1995 from Antalia
Olsi and Polish male Champion of Russia Kabaret Usmeh Dalmacii. From this time
on the kennel got a name “Flinkvild” and was registered with the Russian
Cynological Federation. In 1997 after the Partnership Agreement was signed
between the Russian Cynological Federation and the Federation Cynologique
Internationale (FCI), the kennel was registered with FCI with the registration
number 719/97.
In 1996 we completed a K-9 master course at the Russian
Cynological Federation. And all this time we were highly involved in the work of
the “A-Dalmatin” Club.
For further breeding in the kennel we picked best white and
black male and female dogs Flinkvild Mister and Flinkvild Magnolia (owners
Safonovy). They both became Champions of Russia. In addition Magnolia became
Champion of the National Breed Club by winning on the Second National Dalmatian
Show. She also turned out be a good producer – four of her offsprings became
Champions.
In 1996 we imported two dogs from Poland, one white and liver
male – Orhson Orrh Kontradomino and one white and black bitch – Olivia Olla
Kontradomino. Their father representative of a worldwide known English Kennel
Olbero – International Champion, Champion of Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg
Olbero Orange Prince and their grand-father – International Champion Starlong
Silvan Sjors from Netherlands were both of white and liver colour.
The purchase of these two dogs played a significant role for
our kennel and for all Dalmatian breeders in Russia. Both Orhson and Olivia
became front-runners in all major Shows. Among males Orhson was ranked first in
the Absolute Shows Rating of Russian Dalmatians two years in a row. And in 2000
he became the Best Stud in the National Dalmatian Show. Thanks to his remarkable
origin, great exterior and unique stud characters Orhson became main stud in our
kennel.
In 1996 our daughter Arina was born. From day one she was
surrounded by dogs. She first participated in a Dog Show in a “Junior Handler”
Competition when she turned 6 years old.
In 1996 the National Dalmatian Breed Club was founded. All
Dalmatian clubs located in Moscow and other Russian cities became its members.
The Club’s primary goal was to manner National Dalmatian Shows. Usually it
gathers more than hundred participants from different cities. Each Club tried to
present their best dogs. Of course winning in such a show is very pleasant and
very prestigious. Approximately from this period new Dalmatian kennels started
to emerge in Russia and existing kennels were being registered. Naturally
competition developed. From 1999 National Dalmatian Shows started to conduct
apart from exterior rings “Best Kennel” Competitions. “Flinkvild” won the title
“Best Kennel of the National Breed Club” eight years in a row from 1999 to 2006.
From 2000 “A-Dalmatin” Club publishes a magazine about the
breed called “Piatnashka” (Spotty) and a year book “Mir Dalmatinov” (World of
Dalmatians). From the beginning of their issue and for sometime I had been the
Chief Editor of these publications. I believe that particularly but not
exclusively because of these publications the interest towards Dalmatians is
increasing and breeding is becoming more professional. Now every kennel cares
about the quality of their “stock”, breeders help new owners by giving them
advice and preparing their dogs for shows. In our club there are no
backyard-breeders and hence the quality of puppies is much higher.
We were the first to start breeding white and liver
Dalmatians in Russia. In 1998 puppies were born from Magnolia and Orhson and we
kept a white and liver bitch Flinkvild Shantal Taori. She was the first dog born
in our kennel that became International Champion.
We left one white and black daughter of Shantal’s and male
Washakie Silver Lining (owners Petrakovy) Flinkvild Tais Afinskaya (owner
Filonenko) in joint ownership. She also became Champion of Russia and has 2
CACIB titles. From inbreeding Tais and Orhson we got a litter of eight puppies.
We left one bitch two ourselves - white and black Flinkvild Fantastika Blackstar.
On a National Dalmatian Show in 2002 she one the title “Best Puppy” and later on
became Champion of Russia.
From Fantastika we delivered three litters. Amongst her
puppies from Champion First Forest Fresh Cinnamon three Champions were born:
Flinvild Ballada Liubvi, Flinkvild Black Diamond and famous Flinkvild Brendy
Cup.
In 2006 Flinkvild Brendy Cup became winner of the most
prestigious show of the year – the National Dalmatian Championship and became
the Champion of the National Breed Club! In 2007 he became International
Champion! And in summer beat the quantity record of CACIB titles. Now he has 14
of them and this is not the end!
The daughter of Flinkvild Fantastika Blackstar and Italian
male Dalissi Magical Moonshine (her second litter) Flinkvild Galaxy Blackstar
became Junior Champion of Russia in 2006 and then Champion of Russia.
The daughter of Fantastika from her third litter with
Caesands Rigent Star – Flinkvild Geneva Beatrice became Junior Winner of the
National Breed Club by winning on an All-Russian Dalmatian Show “A-Dalmatin
2007”. Several other puppies from this litter – Zhivenchy, Zhialgiris and Jean
Jermon have numerous titles J.CAC.
From Olivia we also delivered a number of litters. Four of
her offsprings became Champions. The litter from the Finnish male Caesands
Rigent Star produced three Champions: International Champion, Champion of Russia
and Champion of Moldova Flinkvild Ornelia Mitchel (owner Saksina, kennel
“Tsvetok Apsny”), Champion of Russian, Champion of the “A-Dalmatin 2000”
Flinvild O’Neil Motekristo, Champion of Russia, 6xCACIB Flinkvild Oloron Braun
(owners Kumsievy). Oloron is also Champion of four other Moscow Dalmatian Clubs:
“A-Dalmatin”, RK “Dalmatin”, “Dalmatica” and of Dalmatian Club “Elita”.
It’s a unique record that hasn’t been achieved by any other dog in Russia. One
other bitch from this litter Flinkvild Orhideya Askoli was left at the kennel
for breeding.
On a National Dalmatian Show in 2002 all our dogs became
Champions of the National Breed Club - Olivia’s son from Dutch mal Keen Keemun
of Dalbaris Clan - Flinkvild Liverpool and our Flinkvild Shantal
Taori.
We delivered a very prosperous litter from Orhson and the
daughter of Flinkvild Mister – Champion of Russia Mongolfier Jenifer. We have
one bitch from this litter (Flinkvild Donna Darlington) in joint ownership.
During a very short period of time she was able to obtain several titles and
became Champion of the National Breed Club, Champion of Russia and Champion of
Moldova. Another bitch from this litter Flinkvild Diana Ross (owner Pismennaya)
- International Champion, Champion of Russia and Champion of Ukraine is actively
being used in breeding by the kennel “Mir Grez” in Volgodonsk. In 2004 Flinkvild
Donna Darlington was mated with International Champion Gwynmore Ocean of Love.
From this mating we delivered a bitch Flinkvild Amelie Savazh with a fascinating
white and liver colour. She became Champion of Russia and Champion of Belorussia.
She has large redish-brown spots.
Other two Champion bitches that were born from Orhson and
Sozvezdie Odetty are used for breeding by other Russian kennels. These are
Champion of Russia Flinvild Solaro (owner Makina, kennel “iz Sitcevoi Skazki”,
Ivanovo) and Champion of Russia Flinkvild Symphonia Sveta (owner Kozlova, kennel
“Symphonia Sveta”, Tolyatti).
Champion of Kazkhstan Flinkvild Terleckaya Zvezda – daughter
of Flinkvild Shantal Taori lives in the Kazakh Kennel “Yablonevyi Tsvet”, owner
Drovosekova. She actively participates in dog shows and is used for breeding.
In 2003 puppies were born from Flinkvild Shantal Taori and
International Champion Navarro della Belcora. We have one white and black bitch
Champion of Russia Flinkvild Paloma Picasso in join ownership. In 2007 we are
planning a mating.
From Shantal and International Champion Alfaradito Copyright
a magnificent white and liver bitch was born - Flinkvild Vivien Taori. In 2005
she became Junior Champion of the National Breed Club and then became Champion
of Russia and Champion of Belorussia. Vivien takes part in major European Dog
Shows.
-
At the International Dog Show European Winner 2006 she came
3rd in Open Class (9 dogs in ring)
-
At the Specialty Show of the Finnish Dalmatian Club she
came 3rd in Open Class (19 dogs in ring)
-
At the 100th Anniversary of the International
Dog Show in Jahrhundert-Siegerschau in Dortmund (Germany) she came 3rd
in Champion Class (10 dogs in ring)
In the last litter from Shantal and Champion of Russia
Lacrima Cristi Cairo we also got a beautiful white and black bitch Champion of
Russia Flinkvild Estefania Shantali.
From Flinkvild Orhideya Askoli very prosperous offsprings
were born. Her son from International Champion Magico delle Vali – Champion of
Russian Flinkvild Rolling Stones won the Specialty Dog Show in Moscow. Champion
of Russia Flinkvild Elizabeth Askoli daughter of Orhideya and World Champion
T-Kart Eddie lives in “Osenniaya Skazka” kennel, Vladivostok (owner Aliushina)
and in Tomsk lives Flinkvild Eleonora. In 2005 we delivered a litter from
Orhideya and Champion Marnellin Imagenis, imported from Findland. From this
litter we kept a white and black bitch Flinkvild Jenifer Askoli. She has a
beautiful colour and charming temperament, small but at the same time elegant
with good bone structure. Jenifer and her two brothers Flinkvild Deep Space and
Flinkvild Doknar Blackstone became Champions of Russia.
At the end of 2003 serious changes took place at the National
Breed Club. On a General meeting of its members a new Charter was adopted. Now
not only Clubs but kennels and breed fans are able to become members of the
Club. Naturally our kennel became member of the National Dalmatian Breed Club.
Now the National Breed Club has its own web site where you can find results of
all Dog shows organized by the National Club, including all Championships.
Personal galleries of all Champions of the National Breed Club were made. At the
same time it contains loads of other interesting and useful information about
the breed. As you would expect dogs from our kennel are also presented on the
web site.
In 2005 we had a son Egor. It became a little difficult to
give as much attention to dogs as before. However, our daughter grew up and now
she helps us with the dogs and puppies. All in all the sky is the limit.
In 2007 we are planning births of several litters.
Twelve years of working with the breed gave its fruits – 32
dogs that were born in our kennel during this time became Champion of Russia and
other countries, 5 International Champions, 7 Champions of the National Breed
Club. Our dogs obtained more than 60 CACIB titles and 15 became Champions of the
Russian Cynological Federation. A huge number of offsprings of our dogs that
were born in other kennels also became Champions and International Champions.
At National Dalmatian Championships in 1999, 2000, 2001,
2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 “Flinkvild” was titled “Best Kennel”.
